A Year to Remember: 2021 Year In Review
It’s hard to believe another year is coming to an end…and what an incredible year it was! You continue to amaze us with your generosity, compassion, and heart for helping orphaned and vulnerable children find loving families.
We are thrilled to celebrate what you’ve accomplished this year. Your continued support allowed us to expand into two new locations in 2021! Thanks to you, The Hope Effect is changing lives in Michoacán, Mexico and Chiang Mai, Thailand. In addition, you continued to grow family-style care in our existing locations in Mexico and Honduras.

You are making such a difference in Sonora, Mexico! Since receiving government approval to provide family-style care in 2020, we have continued to get more children out of orphanages and into families...where they belong! Children like JJ and Elena are growing up knowing the love of a family.
And just this month, we signed a brand-new contract with the new government of Sonora that was recently elected. This ensures that The Hope Effect will be providing family-style care in Sonora for years to come! Thank you for making this possible. You are changing the way Sonora cares for orphans!
In Michoacán, Mexico, The Hope Effect was invited by the government to pioneer family-style care in the capital city of Morelia. Because of you, the first child in Morelia was placed in a loving family in May 2021.
And since then, several more children are thriving in family-style care in Michoacán! We are so thrilled that thanks to you, children like Adrian have hope for their future. We can’t wait to share more of what you accomplish in Michoacán next year!
In Chihuahua, Mexico, you are helping the family-style care movement expand even farther. Since we began working in Chihuahua in 2019, you have helped almost 100 children in this city alone get out of orphanages and into families. Children like Joel and Lucy are growing up in the loving care of a family.
In fact, the program in Chihuahua has been so successful that other governments have started implementing family-style care. Thanks to you, our partners in Chihuahua have been able to expand into two new states in Mexico. You truly are helping orphaned and vulnerable children around the world…even more than you know!
In Santa Rosa, we are on the leading edge of providing innovative family-style care. And this year, our team entered into an agreement with the government to implement new protocols and expand family-style care in Santa Rosa. That means you are getting more kids in loving families than ever before! Thank you for being a hero to kids children like Abigail, Nadia, and Julia.
In October, we announced our expansion into our newest location, Chiang Mai, Thailand. In Chiang Mai, your support allows us to focus on two key areas – reintegration and prevention.
Most children in Thai orphanages have family that could care for them, so we are working to get children out of institutional care and back in their families. In addition, we provide education and resources to strengthen families and prevent them from surrendering their children to an orphanage in the first place. You are already changing the lives of children like Molly, and we can't wait to share more stories from Thailand in 2022!
As you can see, it’s been a wonderful year…and it’s all because of you. It’s a big job to change the way the world cares for orphans, but you have proven you’re up for the challenge. Take a look at what else you’ve accomplished!
More than $1.5 million has been raised for orphan care since The Hope Effect was founded.
