A New Beginning: Raphael’s Story

It’s no surprise that orphaned and vulnerable children come from hard places. Although the specifics and circumstances vary, these children all have something in common – some type of traumatic experience left them without a family. 

For Raphael, a baby boy in Chihuahua, Mexico, the trauma was extreme and immediate. But thanks to you, his life is forever changed. 

Raphael’s Story

Raphael made the local news the day he was born…for the most unimaginable reason. Immediately after he was born, Raphael was left to die in a dirty, empty lot filled with trash.

 Presumably, his mother thought he wouldn’t be found, but people passing by heard the nonstop cry of a baby. After a lengthy search, the good Samaritans found the newborn and called the authorities. 

The fire department and paramedics rushed to work on the baby, as the scorching Chihuahua sun had done a lot of damage. Not only did he have second-degree burns all over his body, but he later developed an infection from his time in the unsanitary vacant lot.

Authorities immediately notified our team in Chihuahua about the child. As he began the recovery process, we worked to find a family to care for him. 

A New Beginning

Our team reached out to Monica and Alonso, a young couple without children. They had decided to become certified to provide family-style care prior to starting a family. 

 Monica and Alonso didn’t hesitate when they heard about this newborn baby who desperately needed a family. They only had one condition – that they would get to name the child Raphael, meaning “God has healed.”

 The name fit perfectly, as Raphael’s healing was about to begin.

Monica and Alonso welcomed Raphael into their family, providing him the loving, nurturing care he needed and deserved. Not only have they helped him recover physically…they have re-written the start of his life story. 

No longer is Raphael an abandoned, unwanted child. He is loved, desired, and cherished…and his story is just beginning.
