What can you do with one dollar a day?

Your first thought may be…probably not much. You might be able to purchase an app for your phone. An e-book for your Kindle. If you’re out and about, you might grab a drink off the dollar menu at your favorite fast food chain…although you’ll probably go over a dollar with tax.

But what if, with just one dollar a day, you could change a life?

One dollar a day is all it takes to help an orphaned and vulnerable child find a family. To get a child out of an orphanage and into loving family-style care. To give a child hope for the future.

For just one dollar a day, you can change the life of a child forever…a child like Alejandra, Domenic, or Miranda. Read on to learn their stories, and find out how you can double the impact of your gift for an entire year when you join our Dollar A Day Team in May!

Alejandra’s story

When Alejandra, a young girl from Chihuahua, Mexico, first came into family-style care, she was very small and fragile. Due to the lack of individual attention, care, and nutrition in orphanages, it’s not uncommon that children who come from institutional care are small or underweight for their age.

At first, Alejandra’s foster family said she was quiet most of the time as she learned how to adapt to her new environment. But in time, she grew stronger and became more comfortable. Through the love and care of a family, Alejandra began to thrive and reach new milestones. She smiled constantly and learned how to interact and play with her foster siblings. Today, Alejandra is in her forever family, knowing she is cherished, valued and loved!

Domenic’s story

Like many orphaned and vulnerable children, Domenic experienced trauma early in his life. Due to various circumstances, his biological family could not care for him. So as a newborn, Domenic found himself without the love of a family.

Thankfully, Domenic was welcomed into the home and hearts of an incredible foster family. His life has been completely transformed, and he now has hope for the future. We are so thankful Domenic is receiving the love, care and support he deserves!

Miranda’s Story

When Miranda arrived at her foster home, she truly did not know what it meant to be part of a family. She had never had a stable family structure, so there was an adjustment period as she learned how to live within a family environment. Fortunately, Miranda’s foster family had a strong support system, and she began to feel a sense of security and belonging.

Today, Miranda looks forward to going to her forever family. She understands that although she won’t always be with her foster family, she will always have a special place in their hearts.
